My husband, Eric, carried the 40 pound bag of dirt to our flower bed for me.
First, I tilled the soil.
Then I added some black dirt to the topsoil.
Then I planted the seeds, 1/4 inch down, about 8 inches apart.
To protect my sunflowers from the pesky squirrels, I put up a fence around the area. Probably won't stop them, but hey, gotta give it a try.

Watering the flower bed, hoping and praying that the squirrels don't eat all of the seeds and that some of the flowers make it!
